Adrienne:...Next up: Mr. Doug Thompson, via email:

Adrienne:
Thank you for your inquiry.
From my perspective as a council member and citizen it is normal for citizens to disagree with the DHA, Chamber, City Hall, etc. from time to time. Each of these organizations makes numerous decisions on multiple issues every year. There are times when I do not agree with all of the decisions made by these organizations.
It is important to keep in mind that in any democratic process, at some point a decision must be made. Some will be happy, some not.
I don’t take a negative view of someone who disagrees with me on any issue. I try to keep in mind that people come into decisions from different backgrounds and life experiences. I have had times when a citizen disagrees with me on one issue, but find we can agree and work together on other issues.
I take my duty to the citizens of my district and the City as a whole seriously and endeavor to keep that duty in mind for all of my decisions.
Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

Doug Thompson
SDOC Publishing Internet Solutionshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05041229381529252700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8410149219983195338.post-75558259977805438522013-10-22T18:16:44.621-04:002013-10-22T18:16:44.621-04:00First up: Mr. Heyward Wescott via email:

How do you intend to reach out to those Dunwoody citizens who have a negative impression of or a bad experience with the DHA, Chamber, City Hall, etc?"

Yes, I have been involved with numerous organizations in Dunwoody. As a councilman, I will represent the people of District 2, and make decisions as a councilman based on my constituent's desires. My responsibility will be to communicate via newsletters, town hall meetings, and meeting with small groups of engaged citizens. I hope that being out in public and soliciting input will allow an opening for more communication.

"If you are elected, how do you plan to include the concerns of those citizens who are not involved with one of these groups, or whose opinions differ from their "official" positions on various issues?"

Communication will be the key to having all voices heard. I intend to be very public with items, issues, and agendas of council. By sharing information, people have the opportunity to provide feedback and opinions. I look forward to hearing/learning more about each and every location within District 2.
SDOC Publishing Internet Solutionshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05041229381529252700noreply@blogger.com
